Finding the Right Fit: What to expect from your introductory call

Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal decision. It’s important you find the right fit and feel able to trust them...and that you feel heard and understood. To help you decide if we’re a good match, I offer a free 15 to 20-minute introductory call.

Think of this as a no-pressure "meet and greet."

Here is how we will use that time:

1. Your Space to Share

I’ll invite you to share a little bit about what has brought you to counselling at this time. Because our time is brief, you don't need to tell your whole story or talk about anything in detail. An overview of what you are struggling with—and what you hope to feel or achieve—is the perfect place to start.

If you aren't quite sure what you need yet, that’s okay, too. It's part of my job to help you work that out.

2. How I Work

I’ll explain my therapeutic approach and what our sessions might look like. I'll also explain a little about the "admin" side of things: schedules, fees, my cancellation policy, etc. I aim to be transparent from the start of our work together.

3. No Pressure, Total Autonomy

Our call is an introduction, not a commitment. You are under no obligation to book another session. In fact, I won’t ask you to decide on the spot.

What happens next:

  • Reflection Time: I will follow up with you via email a day or two after our call. This gives you space to reflect on how you felt during our conversation.

  • The Decision: If you feel ready to move forward, we can book your first session as soon as my current availability allows.

  • Alternative Options: If either of us feels I’m not the best fit for your specific needs, I will do my best to recommend a colleague or service that might be a better match.
